TESTIMONIALS

Carol Gray

I came to John in 2001 with a difficult financial/legal problem that didn't fit any financial scenerio I had ever read about. Some of the issues were learning experiences for John as well as me, but he worked to get me as much information as possible and guided me to good legal counsel. He provided moral support at a time when I really needed it and I'll always be grateful for his help at a very dark hour.

John worked with me thereafter on a fee basis (I don't want my financial planner to be working on a commission. Been there. Done that.) And John always, always provided me with good advice. But it's probably his "going the extra mile" that I appreciate every bit as much as the sound financial plan. John didn't just coach from the sidelines, but he got down into the trenches with me to tackle an issue quagmired in bureaucratic roadblocks.

I had almost given up on receiving a pension to which I was entitled because the official runaround was getting me down so much. John made calls on my behalf, wrote emails, coached me on the steps I had to take. Because of John's perseverance -- and pushing me to keep working -- I'll probably end up with $33,000 over my lifetime that I might have walked away from without his steady encouragement.

I'm really glad I've had John in my corner.

It is approximately 5- 6 years ago but we do not recall how we first came into contact with John Gregg, perhaps it was knowing that there was an obvious need for someone to straighten out our financial affairs, that drew us to him, but we are glad that we did meet up.

Firstly, John did a financial evaluation of everything that my wife Anne and I had, and made recommendations as to what he felt would be the best things for us to consider, knowing our conservative approach to investments.

During our working years we had gathered together a mixed up group of Term Deposits, G.I.C.'s, Bonds, and R.I.F's.This is how things stayed for some years after retirement, under John guidance as these matured they were carefully reinvested (staying with the same Assurance Co that we felt comfortable with) into an orderly pattern, including a couple of about to expire Annunites where we can follow their progress more easily. We did stay with our conservative investment policy, inspite of John's feelings that we should be more adventurous........!!

In addition to our financial needs John has provided us with thoughful and sound advise on other matters, and we thank you John for your willingness to always be available to "Sit and chat awhile on a variety of interesting subjects"

We look forward to continuing our association with John Q. Gregg for as long as he will have us!!

We are now in our 7th year jointly managing our money, and I thought it was time to express our appreciation for a job well done. Five of those years are since retirement, when it has been very important to preserve capital while still earning enough to stay ahead of the game--

(the game being inflation and government-mandated RRIF payout).

We went through some tough times, weeding out some investments recommended by my former financial advisor, as well as surviving some market reversals. At times it has been tough dealing with me, since I admit to being hyperactive in my concern for asset allocation to match our risk tolerance.

All in all, it has been a great ride, and we commend you for your sage advice and steady hand.

My finances were akin to a tangled garden. Weeds were sprouting, the garden tools lost, seeds left unplanted and the perennials had gone wild. John set to with the skill and presence of a master horticulturist. He skillfully devised a master plan for all seasons. The beds were weeded, seeds planted and bulbs ordered.

A healthy and abundant financial garden now blooms. I sleep soundly at night, no fears of the deer chewing away on the tulips.

I've found an amazing financial advisor, now I need a gardener.

Middle age. . . we don't know how it happened, but suddenly it's here. Reflecting on our decade together we realize that our life is marked by two distinct eras. . . BJ & AJ, that is, Before John & After John.

Before John is mostly a blur -- like a bad dream studded by illegible investment statements and nagging worries over a possible shaky financial future.

Recognizing that we needed help, we landed on John's doorstep. Could he help us navigate through this? Absolutely! Now we have a comprehensive financial plan and we're well on our way to a secure future. If John would just mow our lawn and clean the eavestroughs. . . everything would be perfect.

Jennifer & Steve Hulme

Jennifer and I have been on Quadra Island for nearly five years now, after having originally moved here from Nova Scotia with the intent to find a place and work hard towards an early retirement. We are both working professionals in the health care field and have extensive academic backgrounds. Generally, we consider ourselves as reasonably intelligent folks with good common sense - except when it comes to financial matters. As with many people, money flows through our hands like sand and the more we make, the more we spend. Fortunately, we caught on to our dim witted behaviour fairly early and realized that we needed a rationale mind to help us achieve our long term financial goals. However, we have always been leery of Financial Planners and erroneously believed that we could manage our own finances if we just read a few books!

Well, we met John Gregg and have had many an amusing conversation with him regarding our financial goals and long term planning strategies. John may not have a rationale mind, but he does have a very intelligent one when it comes to financial planning and is an astounding wealth of knowledge with regards to investment strategies and achieving retirement goals. He is exceptionally dedicated to his clients and goes 'that extra step' in making them feel comfortable and confident in developing a sound long term financial plan. What we learned from him in just a few short hours would take many years of self-education and mistake making to have learned on our own. We would enthusiastically recommend John Gregg to anyone who deems it sensible to plan for their future, his knowledge and expertise are truly invaluable in helping to develop a sense of financial security.

John has become an invaluable asset for both our family and our business. We have been well tutored in subjects covering both estate and financial planning. As relative newcomers to both of those concepts John led us through a very structured format that involved lots of self analysis of our family objectives and goals with his expertise always there to find out our options. We really feel John went the extra mile to find out answers to our sometimes difficult questions, and where our particular Woodlot License was under discussion he was keenly interested in learning the administrative details of the business. The ultimate product of our personal "Comprehensive Financial Plan" is a resource that we started using right away, which included going to a Lawyer for our first wills, asking John to be Jerry’s Executor and also setting up a monthly RRSP contribution.

We have no hesitation in recommending John as a professional, conscientious, knowledgeable and confidential Financial Planner.

Doug Peters:

John's economic services have been invaluable to me and my family. His approach is holistic, looking at all facets of our money matters. In both business and personal dealings, John has been very important in mapping out strategy on real estate purchases, tax concerns, insurance considerations, personal wills and anything to do with money.

He knows the questions to ask and where to get the answers so that our decisions are based on facts and details. John is extremely attentive and works hard for us.

His financial knowledge is an asset that everyone should tap. I strongly recommend his services.

Ken Munn:

I have known John Gregg for fifteen plus years. He has been my financial advisor since 1986. His help with my financial matters has gone well beyond advice on where to invest towards a successful retirement. John's information gathering and advice on tax situations, insurance and inheritance and corporate planning has been been invaluable in mapping my financial future.

Several years ago I took it upon myself to educate myself on the nebulous world of finances. For three years I read everything I could on mutual funds and estate issues. In a search for the method of investing that was best for me and my family, I put in some money with a discount broker, a national securities organization, Altamira, and finally with John Gregg in 1999. Over time I recognized the differences, and realized that I did not want to make such important decisions on my own. I wanted some advice, which a discount broker does not do. With the national securities organization, since my account was not sizeable, I was passed down to some underling who appeared to know less about investments than I did. Altamira was good, but it did not cover the whole picture.

As time passed, I found that I preferred dealing with John for several reasons. Over time I learned to trust John, value his opinions, and appreciate his methods of operating. John is well- read, knowledgeable, and approachable. He is willing to research the questions you may have if he cannot explain them. He looks at your whole picture, for the whole family and can advise you on investments, loans, pension plans, insurance needs, and estate issues. He is quick to respond to your questions and needs. He adds a personal touch and is not just a voice at the end of the phone. And last, but not least, it is easy to see that he loves talking about money!
